Transform Your Kitchen Waste into Living Soil

Every day, households throw away vegetable peels, fruit scraps, and leftover food — all of which could become powerful organic fertilizer. Vermicomposting is one of the simplest ways to recycle this waste and enrich your plants naturally. You don’t need acres of land or heavy equipment — just a small bin, a little patience, and earthworms.

Choose Your Composting Bin

Pick a wide, shallow container with small air holes. Plastic or wooden bins work best.
If you’re using a plastic tub, make sure it’s kept in a cool, shaded area — direct sunlight can harm the worms.

Prepare the Bedding

Create a soft bedding layer using shredded paper, coconut coir, or dry leaves. Moisten it lightly — it should feel like a squeezed sponge. This is where the worms will live and start their work.

Add Organic Waste

Feed your worms vegetable peels, fruit waste, tea leaves, and crushed eggshells. Avoid oily, spicy, or meat-based waste. Add small quantities at a time and mix it gently into the bedding.

Add the Worms

Introduce Eisenia Fetida (red wigglers) — the same species used at GSD ORGANICS farms. They’re fast breeders and excellent decomposers. Once added, cover the bin with a breathable cloth or lid.

Harvest Your Compost

After 30–45 days, you’ll see dark, rich compost at the bottom of the bin. Remove it carefully, dry it in shade, and your homemade vermicompost is ready to nourish your plants.

The GSD Advantage

GSD ORGANICS supplies live earthworms and ready-to-use compost kits for home gardeners. Each kit includes everything you need to start composting — worms, bedding mix, and instructions. Whether you live in a farmhouse or a flat, your journey to a greener lifestyle starts with one small bin.
